Programming Your Devices
Programming your CABLE set top device…
1. Press [CBL POWER], then [MUTE] together - hold both buttons down until the indicator light illuminates solid red.

2. From the CABLE Setup Code list, locate and enter the 3-digit code for your brand and model.

3. Press [CBL POWER] to lock in code. The indicator light will blink and go out.
Programming Your TV...
If you have a TV that’s operated by remote control, it is recommended that you plug it directly into a wall outlet instead of the cable set-top terminal.

1. Turn on your TV.

2. Press [TV POWER], then [MUTE] together - hold both buttons down until the indicator light illuminates solid red.

3. a. Press and hold [CH p] until your TV turns off. As soon as your TV turns off, release [CH p]u.

OR

b. From the TV Setup Code list, locate and enter a 3-digit code for your brand. If multiple codes are listed, you may have to enter several 3-digit codes until your TV turns off.

4. Press [MUTE].

a. If your TV turns back on, press [TV POWER] to lock in the code. The indicator light will blink and go out.

b. If your TV does not turn back on, repeat steps 3 and 4 until you can turn your TV on and off

ν When using the Point and Press™ Programming method (step 3a & 4), if you find a code that turns your TV off but not back on, you may have gone past the correct matching code. Try pressing [CH θ] one step at a time until you find a code that turns your TV back on.

Programming Your VCR...
1. Turn on your VCR

2. Press [VCR POWER], then [MUTE] together - hold both buttons down until the indicator light illuminates.

3 a. Press and hold [CH p] until your VCR turns off. As soon as your VCR turns off, release [CH p]u.

OR

b. From the VCR Setup Code list, locate and enter a 3-digit code for your brand. If multiple codes are listed, you
may have to enter several 3-digit codes until your VCR turns off.

4. Press [MUTE].

a. If your VCR turns back on, press [VCR POWER] to lock in the code. The indicator light will blink and go out.

b. If your VCR does not turn back on, repeat steps 3 and 4 until you can turn your VCR on and offν.

When using the Point and Press™ Programming method (step 3a & 4), if you find a code that turns your TV off but notback on, you may have gone past the correct matching code. Try pressing [CH θ] one step at a time until you find a code that turns your TV back on.

Channel Control Options
Your Simplicity® remote can control channels (0 - 9, Ch +/-) through either your Cable Set-Top Terminal or your TV.

However, before you make this selection, you should first program your remote to operate your specific Cable set-top terminal and TV.
TV Channel Control
If you do not have a Cable set-top terminal and wish to control channels (0 - 9, Ch +/-) through your TV, you will need to unlock your remote's channel control feature as follows:

1. Press [CABLE POWER], then [MUTE] together – hold both buttons down until the red light illuminates solid.

2. Press [0, 0, 0] (numeric "0" button, slowly, 3 times). Each time you press the numeric "0" button, the red light will blink and remain illuminated.

3. When you enter the third 0, the red light will blink three times and go out.
Cable Channel Control
If you wish to control channels (0 - 9, Ch +/-) through your cable set-top terminal, you will need to lock your remote's channel control feature as follows:

1. Press [CABLE POWER], then [MUTE] together – hold both buttons down until the red light illuminates solid.

2. Press [9, 9, 9] (numeric "9" button, slowly, 3 times). Each time you press the numeric "9" button, the red light will blink and remain illuminated.

3. When you enter the third 9, the red light will blink three times and go out.
Helpful Programming Tips
1. Always read the instructions before programming and operating your remote control.

2. Remote controls consume more power in a programming mode than during normal operation. If the remote will not let you program, the batteries could be old. Install a new set of batteries, alkaline type are recommended for longer operating life.

3. Remote controls operate slower in a programming mode. Press buttons slowly, carefully, and in order indicated and you should experience no problems.

4. The red light will remain illuminated when the remote is in a programming mode. If you don’t start programming within 45-seconds, the red light will go out.

5. Be sure to press the [CABLE POWER], [TV POWER], [VCR POWER] button to lock in your Cable, TV, VCR devices once you have found the correct setup codes.

6. For questions concerning the operation of your Cable set-top terminal, please contact your Cable Operator.

Frequently Asked Questions
The following are typical questions (Q) asked by end-users that are confused about the programming and operation of their remote control:
Q: My remote doesn’t work?
A: If the red light does not illuminate when you press any of the buttons, the batteries may be old and need replacing. or the batteries may be installed incorrectly. Suggest you remove and replace batteries.
A: If the red light illuminates when you press any button, the remote may not be programmed correctly, or at all, for your Cable, TV, and VCR devices. Suggest you try reprogramming your remote following the instructions in the User's Manual.
Q: How can I tell if the batteries in my remote need replacing?
A: The red light will illuminate very dim, or not at all during use.
Q: Will the remote need to be reprogrammed after I change batteries?
A: No. Your remote has permanent memory, which eliminates reprogramming after battery changes.
Q: How do I turn on just my Cable set top terminal and TV?
A: Press [CBL] then [TV]. Or you can press [TV] then [CBL]. The order you press these buttons is not important.
Q: My remote turns on my cable set top terminal and TV, but I have a snowy picture?
A: Chances are, your TV is not tuned to the correct output channel for proper Cable reception. You may need to use the Ch +/- buttons on the front of your TV and reset the TV to channel 3. In some areas, the TV output channel may be 2 or 4. If you are unsure of your correct TV output channel, contact your cable operator.
Q: I just got a new TV and VCR. Will I have to reprogram my remote control?
A: In all likelihood yes, particularly if your new TV and VCR are different brands than your previous devices.
Warranty
1. Your remote control is warranted for 90-days from the date of original purchase against defects in material and workmanship.

2. During the warranty period, if any remote fails electronically, or for reasons other than cosmetic damage or customer abuse, it will be repaired or replaced free-of-charge at Specialty Remotes' discretion.

3. Customers wishing to return their remote control for warranty evaluation must first contact us at the address & numbers listed below and obtain a Returned Materials Authorization (RMA), which will be used for tracking purposes.

5. Once you have obtained a Returned Materials Authorization (RMA) number, you can ship your remote and your original dated invoice "postage prepaid" to the address indicated above. Be sure to write the RMA # on the outside of the box.

6. Specialty Remotes will evaluate your remote and if a warranty claim exits, will repair or replace the remote free-of-charge.
